Democracy

Where we explore a full, comprehensive definition of democracy.

4: Fourth level of democracy — We, the People

When discussing the third level of democracy, we strayed away from the concept of the power to the people. In this step, we make sure to give the power back to the People, so that we can come full circle back to the first level of democracy.

The only sane way for the citizenry to cast their ballots in elections, is after they have received relevant, accurate and factual information about the candidates and the issues...

We cannot have a healthy, functioning democracy when lies, disinformation, false narratives pollute the informational landscape.

In the fourth level of democracy, we discussed elections, the Duverger Syndrome, election methods and the whole electoral process.

In this level of democracy, we must address one important prerequisite in order to have an orderly election producing sane results that truly reflect the Will of the People.

Citizens must be provided with the information that they need to make the best choice at the ballot box.

While a citizen's vote is sacred and the choice at the ballot box an unalienable right, ideally the expression of that right ought to be done in full, accurate, truthful understanding of facts, issues and candidates.

Here, we use the word "media" in the broadest sense possible. We are not only going to discuss traditional news media, social networks, etc., but also all the ways we ourselves, in our ordinary daily lives, are medium of information. We receive information from friends, family, neighbours, etc and, in turn, we disseminate information around us. By the quality of our own speech, we participate in the overall political debate.

Topics will include traditional news media, social networks, artificial intelligence, freedom of speech, etc.

political discourse

It is sadly obvious that we need to rethink the way we approach political discourse. We need to improve the way we communicate with each other.

The highly divisive and polarized nature of our current political debate is one of the most important symptoms of the Duverger Syndrome. Thus, one priority would be to cure the root causes of the Duverger syndrome, and start using a better voting method in our elections.

Political discourse

A healthy political discourse is an important part of democratic life.

6: Sixth level of democracy — We, the Breadwinners

All about income, taxes, livelihood, for a fair and just society, where everybody can make a living.
